Authorities in China have introduced an unusual measure to help married couples survive the “seven year itch,” reports the Telegraph.

The post office and Beijing's Civil Affairs Bureau are offering newly wedded couples the chance to write a love letter to each other, which will then not be delivered for seven years.

Divorce rates in China have more than quadrupled since 1985, and authorities hope that receiving these letters seven years into marriage will help couples who may be on the brink of breaking up, to refocus on their relationship.
